Just wondering if anyone ever orders anything from them? I look at their website from time to time and they seem to have the type of dresses I've been looking for at the mall (and failing to find)

I'd like some nice casual dresses that travel well. I travel alot, have a baby (so need something longer as I'm alwasy stooping to p/u baby, things baby has dropped, lugging the stroller in and out of the car, etc..) I don't most maxi dresses b/c I need/want to wear a bra ....

However, I can't get a real feel for the dresses on j.peterman since they don't have "real" pictures of them!

I used to order a lot. I still have a favorite cotton nightshirt. They were all lovely clothes and very well-made. Then I got fat.

I love the styles but, like you, am not sure how J. Peterman dresses look in real life. I'm also tall, so I'm dubious that the waists and darts would fit me right, but I love the idea of them.

Have you looked at Talbots? They have similar feminine dresses, and you can see how they look on models.

I'm floored to find out that J. Peterman still exists.

The clothes all looked the same to me when I got them as the drawings did. You can always call their 800 number to ask the length from collar to waist to hem.

I shop on J.Peterman occasionally.

Couple of caftans, the 1947 dress (fits FANTASTIC), slippers, Couple of shirts, Moroccan style dress, Linen dress.

The drawings are really good representations of the clothing. And I have found the items run true to size. You won't see yourself coming and going in their stuff that's for sure, most people wear trendy over classic. It's pretty well made also, I think the quality is comparable to the price you pay. Catch a sale when you can!

I love reading the descriptions, always makes the clothes feel so much more unique when you wear them because they have a story.

Seinfeld satirized the real catalog (with their permission I'm sure - any publicity is good publicity).

Thanks everyone that replied.... I too was shocked that they were still around. They actually came up when the husband and I went to the mall the other day. We were talking about the "old Banana Republic" (J Peterman was their competition).

I am so in love with the dresses on that site. I'm afraid to order though as I think I'm too busty for them to fit right.
