Gap is just like Target and Walmart. Their clothing is made in China or similar.
In fairness, so is most of what interests me in Nordstrom (Cole Haan, Polo Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Façonnable, Canterbury of New Zealand). Of course, suiting is the department where Nordies/Saks/Bloomingdales shines.
Kohls for jeans is a great idea. I bought one of my staples there over a year ago when I moved to Boston and was flat broke. They are a pare of soft, stretchy skinny jeans from Lee's and even my mother tells me they are flattering, now thats an accomplishment coming from MY mother
Eddie Bauer, hands down. I never even actually have to "go" to an Eddie Bauer store. I just buy from their website, and I know everything willl fit me perfectly.
I never feel that impressed with their clothing when I go in the store. Maybe I need to check it out again though.
I have picked up lots of cute stuff at Kohls. I like the Elle and Lauren Conrad lines the best. Vera Wang tends to have cute pieces but fits funny (may work best if you have a straighter figure). J.Los line is a little to flashy, and Daisy Fuentes is too boring. I don't bother with the juniors section, not cut for me at all. Rock and Republic looks a little teeny bopper to me, and always seems to be sold out, so I haven't given it a fair shot.
I have a pair of khakis that I bought at Wal Mart with the George label that are made better than Dockers at about half the price.
Funny you should say that, because I bought DH a pair of madras shorts there for $12, and they are his favorite shorts. Who knew?
