Hmm, are we talking fashion, makeup/hair, or ..?

If fashion, for men based on this, I gotta give it to the '30s for men:

For women's fashion, yep once again I pick the '30s:

For men's hair, I like the '40s best:

And for women's hair/makeup, I like the 10's, 20s, 30s, and 40s all equally. Those decades all look great imo:

And for all of it, the 70s and 80s were just horrible all around.

Speaking as an occasional nudist .... they all look pretty much the same once the textiles are removed.

80's.... Crispy, frosted hair, aqua net, shoulder pads.. Mullets, rat tails, stone washed jean jackets.

I don't know the correct answer, but it sure as sh*t isn't the 80's.

The 60's for me. I love the styles and makeup from that whole decade from start (Jackie Kennedy chick) to finish (hippie influence). I did not like all of it. But there was next to nothing in the mid-to-later 70's that I liked for style and looks.

I do love the beautiful, glamorous clothes from the 20's and 30's.

80's, to me, was merely a FUN decade. I really do think "the look" in general was horrid (makeup, bad frizzes, etc.), but it was a fun time to experiment with colors and outlandishness.

Every era has it's pluses and negatives, and I have to admit that several have more negatives than pluses to me (the 30's, and the 60's jump out at me for instance).

I LOVE the turn of the century and up to about 1918 or so for women. Not so much for men.

In the 1920s party fashions were fun but every day wear for women was pretty awful. Mens' suits were fabulous then.

In the 1930s I feel that most women's clothes were HORRIBLE - I especially hate the hats and silhouettes of that era. Men's clothing - meh.

My favorite era for clothing across the board is the 1940s - love that look for men and women.

The 1950s had some fun clothes. I think many of them would have been uncomfortable though. Cinched waists and very tight bodices and arms for women. I like more freedom of movement. The clothes and fabrics were pretty though. Men's suits were nice as well as their casual clothes.

I didn't much care for the 1960s for anyone, mostly because of the hair and weird makeup. I did like some of the dresses and pillbox hats for women. Mens' clothing from that era really sucked in my opinion.

The 1970s had a lot of unattractive fashion going on, but there were some styles I really liked - I liked big floppy hats, platform shoes, and ....well, that's about it. Mostly stupid looking stuff was going on, now that I think of it. And men had too much hair! LOL

Now - I was a young adult in the 1980s and though many of the more extreme styles were ridiculous looking, wow what a fun time to dress! It helped that I have naturally "big" hair! I loved the shoulder pads, the big earrings, etc - I think that women's fashions were EXTREMELY feminine and men's fashions were fun and funky. Makeup was also pretty extreme and fun too. Actually - the word for that era's fashion to me is "fun."

The 1990s seemed dour and drab to me, after all the flashiness of the 1980s though a few styles appealed to me - mostly the different styles of jeans and Doc Marten boots.

Early 2000s seem undefined to me, but better than the 1990s. I like many of the throwbacks to the more "earthy" styles of the 1970s - those were the better of the 1970s fashions (as opposed to the "disco" look).

2010s are interesting to me because I don't see a lot of originality but I do see lots of fashion hints and styles that refer back to many former decades - and I like that retro vibe. Not sure how many very young people know they're retro - maybe they all do for all I know. However, to me, mens' fashion has some unattractive elements to it right now - the grungy, two days' spotty beard growth as well as tight little PeeWee Herman suits - blech. Lots of people don't like skinny jeans but I think they can look good paired with the right top and shoes. By "right top" - I mean NOT a tight one where even the slimmest girl has a jelly roll due to the tightness and unattractive rise in her skinny jeans. I love the emphasis on scarves and accessories today - lots of great accessories out there right now...I can feel a bit of 1980s creeping in...

I would say the 40s and 50 are my favorite. Although I really like women's fashion in the 80's (yes, that's when i was a teen). The 80s naive fashion for women at that time just appeals to me.

It has to be the 1950s definitely. There was a set standard for looking prim and proper and men and women looked very much as their genders should. I do not like the metrosexual look or the slacked off look of today.

I think the 1950's people looked best, when men were still gentlemen and they didnt have the long haired hippies yet, everything seemed to go down hill after the hippies and the 60's
