To me, sequins on a formal gown or dress for a special occasion are fine. But sequins and similar embellishments on everyday clothes just say "Look at me! I need attention!"

I like them when they are done a certain way. The other day I saw this pewter scarf and it was peppered with tiny pewter sequins that were not super flashy like x-mas garland. It looked more like brushed metal. I really liked that scarf.
I never buy sequins though because I don't want to deal with a 2000+$ vet bill when a fallen one gets mistaken for a cat snack.

I LOVE a few sequins; I HATE a lot of them.

They should be a trickle of light and shine, not a floodwater of obnoxious glitz and bling.

Not to be a hippie about it but when I see sequins on a garment, I immediately think of a poor person in a third world country who has to sew on every little sequin (because it does have to be sewn by hand) to get paid cents a day just so they can afford that bowl of rice that will keep them alive.

I guess buying a sequined garment may keep these people employed but the look is a bit too overt "look at me". When I crave shine, I prefer silky fabrics instead.

Tacky, tacky, tacky on daytime wear. OK in moderation for evening wear.

Comfortable, affordable, practical, fits well, looks good without all the "look at me I wear shiny things" attention.

I love sequins --- I love looking at them on myself, or on accessories. I wear them for myself. Even in the house yesterday, where no one really saw me, I was wearing a T-shirt with a few sequins sprinkled across a pattern on the front.

You can never have too many sequins haha:
