When I was young, I had to have a large operation on my leg, which left me with a scar the length of my thigh, as well as smaller ones at other places on both of my legs. Because of this, I don't really wear shorts, since the scars attract attention.
So my question would be, do scars like that turn a guy off? (since that has happened ...)

I know this was directed to the male population, but I felt the need to input my 2cents.

For Mr. Right for You; it won't matter.

Honestly, as a woman (not a man) I can't imagine being particularly self conscious about a scar that wasn't large and on my face (I can see how some facial scars would be distressing of course, but even in the case of facial scars, one on my chin or forehead wouldn't bother me much). As for scars on legs or arms - nyahhhh. Don't worry about it.

As for scars on more private parts of your body, I can tell you one way not to get too stressed about those - don't let anyone who doesn't love you for who you are INSIDE access to those more private areas. If they love you for who you are, and are deserving enough to know your body so intimately, the scars will NOT matter.

Wait what?

So you are ok with surgical scars; but not a c-section which is a SURGICAL scar?!

My husband never knew for the 1st year we were together I had even had a c-section with my oldest. My scar from it is TINY and hidden in my pubic hair.

Mine's not even that big. It's roughly 3" long, and my Doc was a magician with c-sections.

KathrynAragon, I see your point. scars that are more visible, like on the face, could make someone quite self conscious, but even on the legs, especially when it comes to summer, become noticeable as well, as they don't tan the same and stand out even more. just after a while, it gets more annoying, than making me insecure, that people stare (and sometimes obviously talk about my scars in ear shot )
But thank you you are right, those who have known me since before I had them or those I've met after, were a bit shocked at first, but now they even forget about them

Raised scars look bad. Probably anything I could see from more than a few feet away would turn me off. That's happened to me while watching porn (augmentation scars). Also, I know a man with large scars on his arm that look like the aftermath of a knife, and it's disturbing.

C-section scars have a different implication - kids. Its a turnoff to me. If she had a surgery because of some illness or something that is quite different. kids are like - ugh.
