OK, that makes sense. Even though many/most schools nowadays no longer have uniforms, I suppose that the perception of such outfits might not have changed much over time.

Yep. Even for its time (It came out when I was the age of the characters) it was super stylized.

Boots are different from knee socks. Some boots are more suited to costumes, like Julia Roberts' boots in Pretty Woman. But other boots are fine.
