My name is a typical name that is common but not too common; however, my parents decided to spell it differently which is VERY annoying.

My made up names for kids ( if I ever decide to have them) will sound weird to most here, because south Indian names are quite long (chuckle).

My name is not that common, well at least here. Many people mispronounce, and often misspell it.

Freakonomics?

Porsche or Portia? Because even though they are pronounced the same, Portia is from Shakespeare.

My eldest son has a very unusual name that still sounds completely like a name and not some conglomeration of random letters. My youngest son has a now very, very common name that was practically unheard of outside of old family names the year he was born. I'm a bit disappointed it's so common now, but nothing to be done!

Yes I can see this would. Some names just sound like young names, and other names have a more mature sound to them. Also, I think it depends on an individual association with a name how they personally relate to it.

The one name that drives me nuts every time I see it is "Jaime" because it is usually a girl's name. NO. "Jaime" is a masculine, Hispanic name pronounced "Hi-me." If you want to give a girl that name then it is "Jamie" (or Jaymee or Jamee or Jami or whatever other creative spelling you want) but NOT "Jaime."

Some of the strangest names I've encountered in my line of work were Kissy and Butterfly (both women).

Well, I was at Best Buy not too long ago buying a techie device and the young man helping me was named Nemo. Yep, you saw that right- Nemo. I looked at him and said, "Man, your name must be a total chick magnet, huh?" Because who doesn't like the movie Finding Nemo?? LOL
