No, natural beauty is not "overrated". Maintaining proper health through diet & exercise is our responsibility as human beings. Hair & skin care is a major component of personal hygiene. Being inactive and passive about health & wellness is, imo, UN-Natural.. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you stress less about looks, because guess what - Happy looks great on everyone.
I was thinking of making a similar thread, but I might as well just add my thoughts here. Yeah, hair, skin, and fitness are important and shouldn't be faked. Other things can be okay to unnaturally alter, but if for example the clothes come off and the curves disappear, no fair. Natural-looking cosmetic surgery and waist training (via corseting) are underrated.

Taking care of oneself including maintaining a healthy weight, taking care of one's skin, eating a healthy diet, doing good deeds for another, etc isn't vanity or unnatural. Taking care of one's body and mind, inside and out, is cherishing ourselves. I dismay at people who say things like "you are lucky you are slim", for example. I'm slim because I have exercised an hour a day, 6x a week for 40 years and eat healthfully and moderately. Luck has nothin' to do with it.
We are who we present to the world, physically and emotionally, and our presentation, if you will, reflects how we feel about ourselves.
