Whenever I shave, I end up with a cut in my chin area. I want to know what is the best technique for shaving in this in area before starting my shave today. Because its just stupid to cut yourself every time there.

Its also the region with maximum hair growth on my face.

I was never able to shave my chin without causing irritation. Eventually, I stopped altogether. That's my solution. Works great, too - I never nick my chin while shaving now...

I use one of those little green scrubbies for pans. I find that if I use the scrubby on that area then I am able to get a cleaner, smoother shave. I know the feeling of nicking yourself and then going oh jeez and it not being able to stop bleeding. No bueno.

If you're using a safety razor and cutting yourself you're pressing too hard and sliding the razor sideways along the long edge of the blade.

Yes. I always hated shaving. So, when I retired I quit doing it. I joke that the hair from the top of my head slipped down. Every three months I go to my friendly neighborhood barber and get a trim.
I also could never see the sense to tieing a noose around my neck every morning. Luckily, I never had a job where that was required, so I seldom had to do it.

FYI, I try moving as slowly as possible there, to avoid cuts. In my earlier days, I discovered doing it too fast causes nicks. But slower movement doesn't help a whole lot.

More lather, take your time, maybe go over it more than once, pull up skin above your chin with the fingers of your other hand..

1. Use a GOOD razer. I like Gillette Fusion razors the best. They NEVER cut me.

2. The pivoting Pro-Glide shaver. This really does help.

3. Go with the grain. When you do your chin its important to go straight down. Dont shave at angles because that makes it easier to cut yourself. Also, long strokes, not short ones.

4. Dont go too slow, dont go fast.

I use profiled as well, but thanks for the tips. I'm headed to shave now.
