I have a pair of casuals "Chukka boots" by CLARK that I still wear from around 2002, and the soles still look good, not much wear for all the city walking Ive done with these shoes.
I was in Iraq in 2010/2011. I worked on the tarmac where air temps were 120+ F. - hot doesn't come close to describing the heat... dry or not.
While examining my UAV's, I had a pair of Sketchers melt to the tarmac...
Out of nothing but bordom, I wrote to them and enclosed a picture with the caption: "They don't get you through ANYTHING..." more of a joke, than a complaint.
2 weeks later I received 2 free pair of Sketchers. I am pleased to say both pairs are alive and well, and not melted - one pair I'm wearing now...
Their act of kindness resulted in one very loyal Sketchers customer.
I bought a fabulous pair of ankle boots by Cole Hahn about fifteen years ago. I've had them resoled three times and they still look fabulous. They are pretty badass.
Currently I own 4 pair of White's boots, that at the moment are 3-4 years old. I'm fairly confident they will last the rest of my lifetime other than resoles.
In the recent years i've had a few pairs of sneakers that fell apart within a few months, the worst being Vans. I have decided to stick to shoes with vibram soles or anything similar. The rest mostly doesn't hold up (anymore).
A pair of cheap New Balance running shoes years back that lasted 8months (2563 miles). Every other shoe since hasn't come close with those miles. I do have 3 pairs of Dr Martins I bought in 1995 that's brand new in the box sitting in my closet.
