Proactive didn't do anything for me..used it as directed and then some-- Im 30 and have lost hope. Nothing over the counter works-- This is a new thing though so I think Im due for a visit to the DR
I'm surprised to hear all these positive reviews....my brother and his friends (high school and college age) all used it and it did not work for any of them!!
Must be true everyone's skin is different, but for severe hormonal acne I think something from the dermatologist would be needed.
I've been using the products for about 3 weeks now and my skin has cleared up very well. I never had bad acne, but the acne I did have isn't nearly as bad now. Thanks to all for your input!
I have never used ProActive. I had SEVERE acne, went on accutaine twice & since then I only have the occassional pimple once in a while. ACCUTAINE WORKS!!
I dont spend that kind of money on facial stuff. The most Ive really spent was on Avon's ' Anew' and have been pretty happy with it. We cant change the inevitable in life (aging) but we can take care of our skin without completely going bonkers on 'anti-aging' cremes. Anew has worked reasonably good for me. The key is hydrating your body.
It (proactive) did nothing (good or bad) for me either. What is BCP?

I had mild to moderate acne when I was in high school and tried a 30 day free trial of Proactive, but it did little to help. Luckily by about 19 my hormones started to calm and now my face is usually pretty clear.
Some things I used to do that seemed to help:
*Getting some sun on your face (helps a ton...dries out the acne)
*Clearasil made a gel that I used back then for specific areas...if you put it on at night they would be largely cleared up by morning. I'm not sure if it's still being manufactured
*Just putting general moisturizing / hydrating creme on your face, especially during dry winter months. The biggest enemy to acne is keeping your skin moisturized.
*Sometimes a dab of toothpaste works, as crazy as it sounds. Pepsodent original is usually what is recommended.
*If the skin has been broken on your acne, putting a dab of Neosporin on it before going to bed (and a small bandaid if needed) does wonders for clearing up individual pimples by morning
i used it for about 2 years and i loved it...however it quit working so i switched to Clinique acne 3-step program...when this stuff quit's working, i'll switch back to proactive.
the dermotoligist told me that people usually need to switch every once in a while because our skin will get use to whatever products we are using.
It works for certain people, not really for me, but their Oil Control was noticeable.
