We had a guy show up at work at the hospital one year dressed in a fantastic "Grim Reaper" costume. Needless to say, he was sent home to change. NOT an appropriate costume in a hospital.

I'm pretty ambivalent about Halloween costumes at work. I dislike feeling like I have to dress up, but it's fun to see people in (appropriate) costumes. I took today off, and I just realized that I missed the preschoolers trick-or-treating in our center. It's cute to see all the little ones parading through.

That seems to be an old practice, gone here. I saw no one in our office of 400 in costume yesterday. In the past while walking around downtown Seattle in the afternoon of Halloween many people were in costume, yesterday I saw only two, both women. One was in a rather skimpy outfit, however. Even the kids seem to be less enthusiastic, last night at home, despite the many kids in the neighborhood we had only about 20 come by.
I don't think it's very professional or appropriate if you **** it up, but whether the brazen action is met with disdain or delight will depend on office setting I suppose.
I saw only 1 person dressed up at work yesterday. He wore a suit, yellow wig, and a red "Make America Great Again" hat.
It's just a fun and simple thing to do. It's one day to be a little bit crazy. I'm for it. We are full-on adults 364 days of the year. That's fine, and normal and natural, but so too is the desire to just go a bit nuts every once in a blue moon.
Hmmm. I think many of us are lucky to make eight or ten days of the year. I had picked a higher number but after reading half a dozen forums beforehand, I dropped it down about one hundred fifty days or so.

I went trick or treating with my nephew last night. In the past few weeks he had been to 2 trunk or treat events and a Halloween parade, so he already had 3 plastic grocery bags full of candy even before Halloween. Going out last night, he was kind of "meh" about walking around the neighborhood and having to ring stranger's doorbells. When I was a kid, Halloween night was my only night to get candy, so I was out until all the porch lights were off. I don't know how enthusiastic I would have been knowing that I had a bunch of candy already waiting at home.
And maybe adults are the same. By the time Halloween roles around, if they have kids they've already been to a bunch of Halloween events, and if they don't they might have gone to Halloween parties/bar events the past two weekends.
We had no one dressed up in an office of about 400 people. There were a few young women around the city all of them that I saw were sexy cats of one sort or another. I did not see any men in costume or older women or men except one lady had a tee shirt that said BOO.
Although i would agree it is inappropriate for an office, I did not mind seeing a couple of dozen sexy cats walking around downtown at lunchtime. They likely all worked at one big local company that employs thousands of young office workers. Not sure how they all coordinated "LEts all be sexty cats this year"
