I don't know, Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds were both considered "hot" in their day, and they both wore them. I think they just have to be really subtle, and the appropriate color, changing in tone as the real hair grays, etc. The biggest give away is an older man wearing one that is way too thick, and in a dark color that is not appropriate for his age. Awful.
Matthew Mcconaughey was thinning at one point. How did he get his hair back, transplant?
In no point in history has is ever been so cool to be bald......Vin Diesel, Bruce Willis and others "own" it. Wigs/Toupees/Spray Paint are all bad.
I have a buddy that is bald, keeps whatever hair he has left in a buzz cut but he wears a ball cap (everywhere). He said most women simply assume he is bald under that ball cap (which he is). Country singer Cole Swindell does this "ball cap" look for the same reason.
Shave your heads boys... wigs or any sort are a major turnoff.. much prefer a bald head.. some men look nice with it... dont keep strands hanging on either.. get it all off...
THANK YOU!! (from all of us who meant to say that)
I don't care for the obvious toupees, and I don't think they're necessary, but as a woman who is experiencing thinning on the top of my head, I can understand why men wear them. I admit I've considered the clip in pieces to make my hair look fuller. But then it's far more acceptable for a man to be balding than for a woman.
No different than a woman who wears a wig.
If you want to use one then do so if you don't then don't.
I have yet to meet anyone with hair that is part of their personality.
Even Sir Elton John with ALL his bucks, can't pull off a convincing toupee! WTH!

Then again, he's never been worried about how attractive women find him.

I've heard hats/caps, particularly when worn by musicians, referred to as "the Rock&Roll toupee".
