Folks what is your definition of a high maintenance person. I say person because believe it or not women are not the only ones who can be high maintenance. Men can be the same way. Personally I don't think being high maintenance is necessarily a bad thing but I want to hear your opinions. I want to contribute along the way but I am famous for long posts and I don't want this one to be one of them.

To me high maintenance is having to constantly check on your appearance or take a long time to get ready/look presentable. Not being able to just throw on some clothes, whip your hair back, and go.

To me, high maintainance basically means being selfish, needing alot of attention, and someone who always pus their "needs" before anyone else. Someone who does not give a toss about inconveniencing others..

Growing up I always felt my mom was high maintenance and I did not care for it because it was an obsession. It is one thing to want to look a certain way and another when it is a major focus in your life that it takes so much time it pushes out more important things.
I also feel some are selfish and not always but sometimes are not kind to others because they are so focused on getting their needs met they don't consider others.

When you don't recognize the person before they started their "maintenance" regiment (ex. women without
their makeup - and I had girlfriends like that where I had to take a second look).

High maintenance is my ex. My daughters baby shower was after she was born. It started at 4 PM. He sat on his butt and was "shaving" all day. I kept asking him to watch the baby so I could get a shower real fast. He hadn't given me a second all day to even pee, let alone get ready. Constant smoke breaks, phone calls, all the while saying he was shaving his face and head.

3:15 rolls around and he hops in the shower. Gets out at 3:50 makes another phone call and has another cigerette. Finally he watches the baby only after I had gotten her ready and asked him to pack a bag to go (diapers, etc). I only got a chance to wash my face and throw my hair up. Than he comes in at 4:05 complaining I am making HIM late!

This was Everytime we went out. Wait til the last minute, spend the whole time in the shower, then complain I am taking too long for brushing my teeth and washing my face (no time for anything else). Then on the way we stopped at the liqour store, god forbid there's a moment out of the house without alcohol in his system.

Wow . Well that is not what I would consider high maintenance, that is what I would consider useless and rotten, no wonder he is an ex.

High maintenance takes longer than 30 minutes to get ready.

Gcs15 - you ex is not high maintenance, but a loser.

Pretty much just like that old Supreme Court justice said about porn: I know it when I see it.
