She sounds like she is jealous.

Several people told me when I was a teenager that it looked like someone stuck a lump of clay on my face and called it a nose. Yes I have a large oddly shaped nose.

When I was sixteen I finally reached 100 lbs (at 5'5" at that time) and got my first period and didn't look as much like a little girl. I was ballet/dance training 22 hours per week. My dance instructor told me I was getting too chubby and to lose weight. I was given "permission" to wear leg warmers and plastic pants in class to help sweat off the fat and encouraged to eat less. I kid you not.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, when I was 37 I got down to 90 lbs at 5'5.5" and was wearing size 00 or junior clothes (my normal natural size is 5-6), and a psychiatrist I was seeing for depression complimented me on how good I was looking. My eating disorder therapist had pressured me into telling my psychiatrist about my anorexia, and I was just about to tell her when she made that comment. I found that a bit insulting, because it meant in my mind that at a bmi of 14.7 I was still too fat and not sick enough and my body must be terribly defective to look good at such a low weight (meaning I must be huge at a normal weight). I walked out of that appointment without telling her about my ED. Only after my counselor called her did she change her tune.

I've rarely ever been insulted about my looks besides those two incidents (my dance teacher commented on my "chubby" body more than once), but they had a lifelong impact on me. I still battle overcoming an eating disorder, though I have come a very long way. It wasn't caused by those remarks, but they sure added fuel to the fire.

I've never been insulted for my looks, people usually end up feeling sorry for me.

I don't care about a lot of people enough to impress them.

Of course. I think that's true for most people. Probably not most people offline during adulthood, however.

Yes. Many people said I look like a double for Bill Pullman. One guy would not believe me when I told him I was not and had never been in a movie. Now someone keeps telling everyone he looks at me and sees Robin Williams.

I always thought Bill Pullman was attractive.

It always makes me laugh when I think about it, but around age 10 kids called me Dumbo, like the elephant because of my ears. I have really thick lobes and I guess back then they may have appeared big to those silly kids, but, they didn't protrude, well I don't think they did. Anyway, I loved Dumbo, and elephants in general, but, can't say I was thrilled to be likened to the image of elephant ears..

People have complimented me, and people have insulted me. I guess public opinion of my looks are polarizing.
