I wear Levi’s 514, and some colors have more spandex than others. I like them though, the older 100% cotton jeans always felt tight after washing and drying, but these new ones are comfy just a few minutes after putting them on.
I Prefer the old school 100 % cotton jeans. They are tight after a wash, but then they stretch out enough and becomes comfortable. But if you gain weight you feel it for sure. The stretch jeans just gets bigger and bigger. You can gain a good 15 pounds and the jeans still fit you.
I remember wearing 'Stretch F-ing Jeans' in the early 90s, they were solid black and fit pretty well, but not everyone could pull them off, I think they only made them for men up to size 38, and it was mostly people into the punk/alternative scenes.
Trends comes and go very quickly though, it wasnt that long ago that HUGE baggy pants were the rage, eventually skinny jeans will fade out and a return to the baggy style.
Is there any reason why such pants are very popular today?
They arent. And I think you know they arent. This is just another one of the many many threads you started about things that seem to relate only to YOU.
Stretch pants for men are NOT popular with college aged kids.
Stretch pants for men are NOT popular with the coveted 20-35 year old demographic.
Stretch pants for men are NOT popular with working class men.
Stretch pants for men are NOT popular with ANY man I know.
It may ONLY be popular with a very very very tiny and small segment only in certain geographical locations among only a few who happen to be very outwardly "fabulous" gay men. So, in conclusion of this ridiculous thread title, "stretch pants" are absolutely NOT popular at all with men.

So why is Old Navy's jeans collection dominated by them? They wouldn't produce a lineup that doesn't sell. Old Navy is not stupid.

It isn't the jeans, it's these other stretch pants that come in different colors and are short or have a wide elastic band at the ankle. They don't wear socks so they flash their ankles.
