So the other day, I watched a makeup application video, and the woman doing the video used a white eyeliner pencil on the water line, to make her eyes look bigger. I liked the look, and it looked easy enough to do. However, she didn't use a regular eye liner, but instead, used her eye shadow, drawing it around the outer corners of her eyes, and along about half her lower eye lash line.
I'm not confident in doing that with eye shadow. As a matter of fact, I rarely use eye shadow...I feel like I look more clownish than anything. I usually use an eye liner pencil instead.
So. My question is, does anyone else ever use the white pencil AND a regular liner pencil? I tried using both...and the look was underwhelming. Am I doing it wrong? Or...does it just not work, using 2 pencils?
A powder eyeshadon on the water line sounds like it could be painful. I use Marc Jacobs gel liner in a champagne color in my waterline sometimes, it works well and really stays put.
I'm confused as to how one would fit two different liners in the waterline. If you are putting one on top of the other that would make the white pop less. Maybe that's the problem, but it's hard to picture what you're talking about. Could you clarify what exactly you did with the two colors?

You're right...it does pop less. I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. Like...maybe the white goes on the water line, and the regular eye liner pencil goes lower...but that seems like too much.
And the lady doing the video didn't put the eye shadow on the water line exactly. it was more like...under her lashes I guess.
I'd try that if I had more confidence in my eye shadow application...but really...I'm not very good at it.

Under the lashes makes more sense to me. If you aren't comfortable with shadow, use an eyeliner that's soft so you can smudge it a little with a q-tip.
I've tried shadow on the waterline and it's annoying (powder in your eyes) plus it doesn't stay put long.
I've used white or beige pencils on the lower water line but I find the look a little too weird. What I DO do (LOL) is use a thick white shimmery pencil or a beige highlight shadow on the inner corners of my eyes and a little below. Really brightens up my eyes.
I put eyeshadow under my bottom lashes often with certain looks, never in my waterline. But I am wearing eyeshadow on the top and it's a continuation of that. It's often a white or light shimmery color and I use it in the corners of my eyes and bring it down. I think it might look off without any other eyeshadow to tie it together.
This is what I am thinking of, where the white is brought down under the bottom lashes and typically blended in with the eyeliner. I could be wrong though lol
You could always try a nice highlighter or shimmer pencil and apply it in the inner corners of your eyes. It will brighten them without having to mess with any eyeshadow.
I usually use eyeshadow as my liner. Sometimes I wet it to get more pigment/intense look, but I've never used eyeshadow on my water line. I do however use Benefit's Eye Bright on my waterline regularly.

Yes, that's what the lady in the video did. It was a continuation of what was on the upper lid, and she brought it down to her lower lid, along her lash line.
I'll keep an eye out for the highlighter and/or shimmer pencil.
