It's the moment every woman dreads – a sad milestone on the road to middle age. You look in the mirror and realise the time has come when you must Never Wear A Bikini Again.
And so, heart sinking, you embrace the awful truth and reach for the modest one-piece to spare your blushes – and everyone else’s – as the summer months approach.
But wait. Must it really be this way? I’ve just conducted a mini investigation for The Mail on Sunday and bring good news: we’ve all got it wrong.
I'm sure this whole deal about "I'm old" or "I just had 9 babies" or "I'm old and I just had 9 babies and look how great my body looks" is good for women's self esteem.
It was a good, sensible article and I agree with that point of view completely. And I am 68 and have no qualms about wearing a well-structured bikini to the beach. I see people of all ages and sizes wearing them (I live in a resort/vacation beach city). Sure, some look better in them than others, but so what?
There's no denying that younger men and women generally have more attractive bodies than older people. But wear as little as you want, we don't have to like it.

Not buying it, huh? And I typed it with such a straight face, too.
