I was in Marshalls and found a really funky-looking denim jacket. It has a "military" cut/look to it and has European-style patches/logos. Best of all, it fit correctly (I need jackets to be a bit longer, and denim jackets tend to be too short for me). I realized it had no price tag at all on it, and there was nothing nearby resembling it. An employee was on the sales floor tagging things (or working with a price-tag machine for some reason) so I thought she was the person to ask. She obviously did not feel like looking it up, because her "solution" was to grab the first item of clothing within her grasp (a simple white shirt) and tell me to take it to the register to use as a substitute UPC. She said to use her name (I won't say it here...) if the cashier asked. The cashier didn't bat an eye. So I got a nice denim jacket for $7.99.
I got a brand new pair of Brooks Glycerin 15 running shoes at Salvation Army for $3 (they were having a sale and my daughter gets 10% more off because she works there). They are nice shoes even though I cannot run anymore.
Those shoes are among the best. I got a pair of their Tempo model for my mother, who did not run, but wore them when weeding her flowerbeds. My best recent shoe buy, was $25. for a $100. pair of 361 Degrees cross-trainers. I just wore them for a run on the street, while my main running shoes are on a 3-day sabbatical, while the Shoe Goo on their soles cures.
This summer I bought a beautiful long printed scarf on sale at Dillards for around $15. Finding sizeable silk scarves is hard enough, but finding one I can readily afford is really great. The instant I saw it, I knew it had to be mine.
If I can get a top or sweater for $10 - 20 at any of my usual stores, I think that's good. My closet mainly consists of higher-priced items that I got on sale. I don't really pay the FULL price for anything.
Why does anyone need that many slippers? It could be argued that you wasted the money.
Clogs are not slippers. You wear them outside, they are not just for lounging.
Judge not lest ye be judged, my friend.
