no, the current style dictates that the cut must be slim fit and that the print be of small frames, the most small possible, the big squares make you look fat.
I'm not a fan of any of the shirts pictured in this thread.
But the button shirts I like best (it's a style my boyfriend likes, if not in these patterns/colors) are the ones that feel interesting to the touch. I've bought him a number of long and short sleeved button shirts and I really look for ones that are either a classy looking dark color, or have a silky or soft feel to the fabric. He's has a slightly heavyset build (not very much so, kinda "dad" build) so vertical stripes in black and silver are nice, too. "Slimming."
Wearing shirts that invite women to touch you, and that reward them for doing so...there's something kinda "win" about that in my opinion.
Looks like a classic sport shirt from any period of 1955 through today.
If squared off at the bottom thus not to be tucked in, every retired dentist in Florida has a dozen of these.
I have a few of these and like them very much. I don't care if someone thinks I'm a retired dentist from Florida.
Loose fitting shirts of thin cotton like this make good sense for when temperatures are hot, or for people who don't have a Euro-twinky scrawny build that can carry off the current fad micro-sized gent's clothes. For fellows who carry a little extra meat, or even like the burly but not fat guy in one of the photos above, the skin-tight buttons-straining current fad just looks stupid. Far better to get a nice loose fitting sport shirt like the one pictured at the beginning.
And if you've ever lived somewhere it gets hot, you'll appreciate having some clearance between your skin and your shirt.
I don’t like it. I’m generally not a fan of the short sleeve button down shirt on adult men though. I don’t care what other people wear though. If it’s your fave, go for it. If my husband asked, I’d tell him to put it in the donate pile.
When I was in high school and for several years afterward, I wore buttoned shirts like that. I still have a dozen of them in my closet. But for a long time, I've worn only sweatshirts in the winter and thin, short-sleeved pullover shirts in the summer. Or maybe no shirt, when I'm working out in good weather, using my camera or bike-riding. Fashion has no presence in my life and women who dress in the the same minimalist way, are the only ones who might interest me. I appreciate that there's quite a few of that type here in Eugene, one of the surviving outposts of 1960s-era culture (or whatever you might call it).
