I don't see why not, but I think it also depends on the person, the style, and the ruffles. I've seen some very nice, professional-looking blouses with ruffles and they looked fine to me, especially if paired with a nice vest or something!

Personally though, I would probably never wear ruffles.

I have never been a ruffles person. I would wear a ruffled skirt, as long as it wasn't too poufy, but I hate ruffled shirts!

I still have a picture of when I was in first grade and my mom made me wear this purple pantset that had a white ruffled shirt with it! Probably one of the few pictures that I am not smiling in!

I have some vintage Diane Freis dresses that have ruffles that are ultra classy. Why not wear them? And I'm in my 60's, but I'm still a female. Wear what looks good on your body no matter what the age I say.

I saw the title of this thread and immediately thought.... "Why not? My granny wore them all the time!"

Yeah, you're right. It was impulsive post, I admit. I'm no fashion maven, heaven knows. It's just that when I see the word "ruffles", (besides potato chips) the mental image of wee, cute, tap-dancing little girls or really old women dressing like little girls springs to mind.

Maybe I'm picturing those old pinafores and aprons with ruffles down the edges. You know.... FANCY aprons!
