if I have seen them in person I don't realize I have. Thanks for this feed back. looking sat them I thought the price was high for what they were too but if they are truly that wonderfully comfortable then I would be okay with it.
What you're paying for with Rothy's is that they're made out of recycled plastic bottles. Sustainability is more expensive.
My feet are kinda messed up (arthritic toes that will not flex at all and bend only slightly.) I can no longer wear any heel over an inch, inch and a half. And then, my feet are very particular about which heeled shoes won’t give me lots of pain.
Couple years ago I, too, needed shoes for my son’s wedding. I found a pair of Dr. Scholl’s women’s dress flats with cute ankle straps on Amazon. Super comfortable.
I call them my “girl shoes”, because they are cute and feminine, and the majority of my small selection of footwear is sneakers, flip flops, and boots. Wore them to a wedding last week, actually, and danced all night.
If you want to dance, wear shoes that you already love and are comfy. Put a little bling on them. Truly, no one cares, no one sees and it's common for people to change into comfy dancing shoes or go barefoot for the reception.
My niece had a black tie formal wedding but gave all her bridesmaids blinged out tennis shoes for the reception so they could dance all night.
I have two pairs of the flats from Allbirds. Like Rothy’s, they are pricy, but the flats are comfortable. They aren’t comfortable for long-distance city walking, but for going to a wedding they should be fine. They do take a few wears to break in, but I was able to get them in my normal size (8) unlike the other models where I require a 9. I also have a narrow toebox and wider arch area.
What does your dress look like? I am preparing for my child’s wedding as well and am wearing a full length gown. I figured I could wear any shoe and it wouldn’t show but discovered that with the split in the gown when walking my shoes very much will show. Maybe not important as others have said during the reception but certainly important when I’m being walked down the aisle and in photos.
I am also bringing a second pair of shoes if these prove impossible to dance in.
