ok this is a bit disturbing but something to consider. I can't always dry clean items before wearing but undergarments definitely!
I also worry about what is in those fibers from china, I mean if the kids toys, meds and candy can be full of toxins...what about my tees and things?

I've always washed undergarments before wearing them. They smell like chemicals when you get them out of the package and they are so stiff they can stand up on their own.

I never really thought about washing clothes that I bought, but I'm going to do it now, after reading this thread.

I alwsy wash before wearing. I find the fabric finish feels bad to me presonally. I also don't like the idea of not knowig just noiw clean they really are otherwise. I evenm have jackets dry cleaned.Beside I hate smeeling like new clothes with the finishes.

The only thing i don't wash would be socks in a sealed poly bag. I wash poly bagged underwear and undershirts because they're usually creased/wrinkled.

I sometimes wonder tho, about the actual people that assemble the garments.
My mom always said you never know where someone else's hands have been.

I guess it's just the thought of germs and things unknown
...maybe I will ask santa for one of those nifty clothes steamer things. Yes. That will do great.

Always wash, clean whatever I buy. I have tried on clothing in various department stores, discount stores, and consignment shops. Could hardly wait to get home and 'clean up'. You just never know who may have had these garments on before you. I try to tell if anyone has by checking buttons, zippers, the way things are hanging, etc. If the item appears to have never been worn, I will then feel a little bit 'safer'.

Same goes for shoes! :0.

no, I try to buy clothes that appear to have never been tried on yet, you can tell by how neatly it's folded, buttons all buttoned, tags all intact, etc. and I try to pick the one at the bottom or in the back of the rack that nobody has tried on yet.

shoes that still have the packing paper inside and the laces havent been laced up yet are the ones I prefer, since you know that havent been tried on yet.

coats and jackets never get washed before wearing.

Unless it specifies on the item to wash before wear, I never do that. I am picky in a store when I buy something. I make sure it looks like it hasn't been all over the floor and a lot of hands have been on it.

I am now officially disgusted, with the talk of parasites and everything else!

That said, I typically purchase an item if it looks untouched like no one has tried it on. Also, they often don't have my size and have to go in the back to find it, so my risks are low
