I hope you didn't buy the large size for a few books and your kindle...you can fit a couch in there!
No, no...I got the "Freestyle" which is considered an extra small size. It's like a purse-sized bag. I HATE huge bags unless I'm traveling.

Timbuk2 makes a great bag/pack. If I were into messenger packs that would be the brand I would choose. A friend of mine has one and it's nearly bomb proof with plenty of organizational pockets inside.

Okay...the bag just got delivered by UPS. It's a great size and definitely will hold all my stuff without looking too bulky. My only complain thus far is small; it's just not very, errrm, "pretty" looking. It's super utilitarian and rather masculine. Oh well...I think I may use it today for a quick trip out and see how I like it.

I used it while I just ran out to Costco and yup, melikes!!! It may not be the prettiest thing ever but it's comfy to use and has plenty of pockets to organize all my stuff nicely. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a sturdy bag.

These bags are tough as iron and I believe might just be strong enough to last most of your lifetime. Oh yes, they WILL repair any bag they make for a small charge.
This is Diana, one of the owners of CourierWare. Yes, our bags have a lifetime warrantee for workmanship. All stitching repairs are done for free, relatively quickly. If your dog has chewed up the bag, or it has been dragged behind you car or other sustained other user errors, we will repair the damage for a small fee, if the bag can be repaired.

I will have to look into some of these. I was about to pull the trigger on a Saddleback leather messenger bag for my wife but am always open to different options.
Shop Messenger Bag | Saddleback Leather Co.

I've seen some of their products including this bag and they are works of art. The leather quality is impeccable and these would last a lifetime.

There is also Rickshaw Bags. Made in the US and where the Timbuktu people landed when Timbuktu got acquired. You can customize your bag and other accessories.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.
