I am thinking of relocating to Northern Arkansas, preferably the Rogers area, early next summer. My wife and I are no longer physically able to care for a large home, so am not interested in buying a home. Would prefer a nice apartment or small rental home, preferably in the rural area or semi-rural area (I raise hunting dogs) where a landlord or someone else would have to worry about the maintenance and neighbors would not complain about dogs. Are there such places available in the Rogers area?

Most of the apartments are in town, they wouldn't allow the hunting dogs I don't think. You could probably find a small house to rent, but I think I'd focus on Gentry or Gravette or Siloam Springs rather than Rogers because they are more open geographically. Rogers is adjacent to Bentonville and Lowell along much of its limits, there isn't any in-between land, you go from one town to the other. Heading out to the lake you can get out of city limits, but lake houses rent for more and you would probably end up a ways out in case of an emergency. Heading north, Avoca or Garfield are possibilities because there are some older houses rented out there on small acreages, but they are also close to Beaver Lake so prices will probably vary widely. Pea Ridge is edged in by the National Park, and was just a tiny community surrounded by farms. Some of the farms have been sold to developers, and others are still being worked. Best bet there would be toward Bella Vista and Missouri. But I think Gentry or Gravette or Siloam would be your best bet for the kind of property you are looking for as well as being able to get into town for shopping and also for any emergencies.

I also think you should read your lease carefully. If you rent a house, you will probably be expected to do lawn care and basic maintenance, and some landlords will expect more than what I would call basic maintenance.
