Hey everyone..my wife and I are planning on moving to Fayetteville, Springdale, or Rogers soon. We currently live in Hampton. My wife has family up north that works for Tyson. I am 25 and she is 23. I have a BBA in Marketing from UALR and she has an Associates in MLT. She is department head of her lab at the hospital she works at and has a lot of experience. I think she will have an easy time getting a job. I am currently an assembler at Lockheed Martin. I thought there would be opportunity for advancement with my degree but I've learned that they dont like promoting from within. Ive had 3 interviews where i was more than qualified and they brought in a fresh graduate. That along with defense cuts makes me think now is a good time to move.

I am putting my resume in to Tyson, Walmart, and JB Hunt for the time being.

Also since we will be looking to buy.....are there any programs that qualify us for 0 down payment or a lower interest rate since this will be our first home purchase? We both have great credit. We dont know much about buying just yet. Just looking for any guidance and info on moving up north. We enjoy it so much up there. Thanks!

I don't know about the job situation, really. Being proactive and contacting a hiring manager after putting in a resume may be helpful if you can find out their contact info. This makes you stand out from other applicants.

As far as home loans, the only program I know of is FHA. Through this program, you may be able to get a home loan for 3.5% down, with your closing fees included in the loan: Loans

Hopefully others can give you more ideas.

aparker, you might want to post in the Real Estate forum for help on financing - those folks would know about any federal programs for first time homebuyers with low or no down.
