I may be moving to NW Arkansas in the coming months. I need advice on moving though. I own a home and 3 dogs and chickens. I am guessing this takes me out of the renter's market. I can buy a home, but what do people do between the time they bid and taking ownership. I am from out of state. I don't know where I could stay with my dogs and chickens for a few weeks while I work and before I take possession of the house? Or do you think I could rent a place afterall? Ideally I would like to rent for a while so I can search for just the right neighborhood.

Talk to a realtor. I'm sure there are plenty of houses for rent. Animals may pose an additional restriction but it doesn't cost you anything to reach out to a realtor with those questions/situations.

Generally, living in a development would exclude chickens I would think, but there are plenty of homes that are not part of communities with restrictive home owner associations (HOA)

There's a house next to my development with chickens (I buy her eggs) and her neighbor owns 2 horses and sells fruits and vegetables in the driveway

There are renters in our neighborhood who have a poultry pen for fresh eggs. It is difficult to find, but there are some properties where backyard chickens are allowed.

Take Rock Climber and gunslighters advise. The first thing you need to do is talk to a Realtor. Yes, even the dogs, because you have 3 might present a problem but I am sure if you check in some of the rural areas, maybe Gentry or Gravette or even Pea Ridge you will find something.

Give the chickens away and get some more when you get there. There will be chickens for sale somewhere around Fayetteville, I promise you.

I would suggest the same for a couple of the dogs also, but I know how people are about their dogs these days.

So, as progressive as Fayetteville is, they haven't passed an ordinance allowing backyard chickens (no roosters, of course) yet, as some of the other "hip" cities in this country have?
