Best Places to Retire in the United States 2015

Quote:
Tucked into the Ozark Mountains on the shores of Beaver Lake, Fayetteville offers a wealth of year-round outdoor outlets. The local economy is also strong, driven by the University of Arkansas and proximity to Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville.

Don't spread the word too much. I'd hate to see NWA become too large.

I can't wait to move there either. When I visited a month ago, I felt like I had found my home.

So what are your moving plans right now or do you have any?

We are planning on moving as soon as we sell our house. It's been on the market almost 2 years. Things are not moving very fast here and when we were under contract, they backed out.

I moved here last Feb. and have been very pleased with it so far. I did my research, I visited multiple times, and got exactly what I had thought I was getting, and am happy as can be. I actually spoke with one of my friends the other day who I had not talked to in about 8 months. About 10 minutes into the phone call, she said "You've changed. You're happier!". And you know what? Yes. I am. because I live in a nice area, with nice people, low crime, plenty of things to do, etc.

Things people told me that I would like to touch on now that I've lived here for a while:

-There is no night life: Well, maybe not. Certainly not anywhere but Fayetteville, but then, you also don't have the problems that can accompany that, either.

-It's the Bible Belt: Well, so it is. I however had not been harassed, bothered, annoyed, or disrespected by anyone of any religion here. I've been here long enough that if it finally DOES occur, I will know it's a personal issue on their part and not "because it's the Bible Belt". However, I have had someone leave me a bunch of pamphlets from various churches, and one group even went so far as to leave a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich in a bag on my door-step, along with a note about how the higher power that they worshiped loved me. That, I found a bit in poor judgement on a 90* day, and frankly, a bit weird.

-Traffic is terrible: Yes, during certain hours, and in certain locations, yes it is. It honestly is.
