We are fairly new to NWA and are frequently asked if we have found a church home. Although we like the social community that a church offers, we do not regularly attend any church. Are there other like-minded individuals in the area? Will we be able to become involved in the community without a church home?

I volunteered regularly when I lived in NWA, and, although I did get asked that question a lot too, I'm not religious at all (and not even really sure what that question MEANS). I volunteered at: the public library, the humane society, the hospital, etc. There are lots of clubs and groups to join; for example, the Friends of the Library. You definitely do not need a church home, just start volunteering and you'll meet like-minded people.

Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Garden of the Ozarks...there are literally hundreds of places to volunteer.

There are many ways to get involved with the community without being involved in a regular church..I think you have been given some very good ideas.

We just moved to Rogers from the northeast in January, and I will begin volunteering at the Literacy Council this coming week. Even during orientation, I met a couple nice people. I went to volunteermatch.org to find a couple places that appealed to my personal interests.

I'm still looking for a job so I figured volunteering would be good to do in the meantime (and even afterward). For the record, we are not church goers either but I've only been asked once if I've found a church.

Litberary council is a great volunteer organization. Good for you.
