Interesting article.

BBC News - Edvard Munch's iconic artwork The Scream sold for $120m

"Norwegian expressionist Edvard Munch's The Scream has become the most expensive artwork sold at auction, after it fetched $119.9m (£74m).
The 1895 pastel was bought by an anonymous buyer at Sotheby's in New York. Bidding lasted 12 minutes.
The work is one of four in a series by the Norwegian expressionist artist and was the only one still owned privately."

I'm so ignorant. To me it looks like something done by a fifth grader.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around that price tag. It probably sold to an extremely wealthy individual or an oil rich royal family but I wished it had been bought by a museum so millions could see it.

To me, it's all in the emotion in invokes. For anyone who is suffering from...or has suffered from...true, relentless, deep suicidal depression, this simple image captures it so eerily and beautifully, at the same time.

I saw it a few years ago at The Munch exhibit at MOMA, in NYC.

LOL. That looks like my lawn in January.

I see pictures in hotel rooms and places like that, that I cannot figure out why anyone would pay good money for them. Like I said.....I'm just ignorant.

I gained a better appreciation for Pollock as an artist, after viewing the Ed Harris film 'Pollock'. Like many artists, he was tortured soul, who's work became much more valuable after his death.

Check it out in IMDb...it did win an Oscar back in 2000.
