Having come from an 'artist' family, it hurt me to have to rescue these two paintings from a Habitat for Humanity resale store in New Braunfels, TX three or so years ago. Someone thought little enough of them to give them away.

Signed very simply 'Wright', one in the lower left, one the lower right. No date on either. Larger one is stretched canvas on a Fredrix wood frame, smaller is stretched canvas on a wood frame stamped Made in Mexico.

They're technically excellent, in my opinion, and I'd love to find out more about the artist... whoever/wherever he or she might be or have been. I can't find anything on art websites. Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't know the artist, but it looks like an amateur work. It's pretty good.

I would try a local search first for the artist- he/she may still be alive. The Mexican farms don't say much, as they are all over the place. Fredrix is a good brand, and one artists use. It's sold in arts and crafts stores. A local sales person in such stores may recognize the artist's work if the store does framing.
If you see any more of the work pop up, that could help your search too.

Paintings like these are often hard to track down, though, so good luck on your search.

Thanks for the response. I'm not in the area any longer. May well be a non-pro, but photos don't do them justice. They're very, very good. Texture and knife work are excellent.
