Just thought I would start up a new thread as couldn't see one and talk about something that I'm very passionate about and that is ART. Any type from surrealism to pop-art to 3D-architectural designs to fashion and all the other forms that we have...
I'll start I love all the work done by Nigel Coates at the moment and not very long ago I was also very inspired by Wayne Hemingway. Nigel Coates for me at the moment has fantastically depicted what London Culture is all about. His work using the Battersea Power Station has transformed its surrounding landscapes and brought positive light within the neighbour hoods. A must see.
I'm traditional. I like the Renaissance painters like Raphael, Gentileschi, Botticelli, Dürer, Holbein. But also Goya, Velazquez, Gaugin, Matisse, Millais, Holman Hunt, Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, Charles Russell, Hokusai and Hiroshige.
Ok, I'm willing to be the first to say it. Don't slam me here! But of contemporary artists (and I know his work is kinda "overexposed" commercially these days and I remember someone saying his work is like the world would look if everyone was on Prozac, but...........I like Thomas Kinkade.
I also like a Texas artist, less well known, G. Harvey. He does a lot of street type scenes and Westerns. Not into the western stuff, but the street scenes are gorgeous. He also has done some street scenes of Dallas in earlier days which, or course, is interesting to us. We have some of both Kinkade and Harvey's stuff in our home.
Also, like an artist named Paul Landry, and I also find a lot of Norman Rockwell's stuff interesting.
If we're talking an artist in the past, I tend to prefer Renoir and Monet.
Why? Well, with the exception of Rockwell, I just find all the above artists' works beautiful and a pleasure to behold. (Rockwell, has some interesting scenes of traditional Americana that seem nostalgic and I like that.)

Reason: remembered Paul Landry!
Picasso, Picasso and Picasso. He's the only artist I really like.
There can be paintings I will enjoy when visiting a museum (any style actually), but that doesn't mean I will like everything the painter has done. But as far as Picasso is concerned, I always do!
