azcentral.com video: Double homicide near Sedona

It happened at the overlook on the way to Cottonwood. When tourists found them at noon on Friday (6th) the car was still running and they had been shot from outside the vehicle, so sad! They were elderly tourists from out of state.

They're definitely here and especially in Cottonwood. No one knows yet if it was a robbery or what. It could even have been someone who pulled off the I17 to get some money and take off again. It's shocking nonetheless. I hope it wasn't just some random thing.

You would prefer it be more of a regular thing?

Sorry, I worded that completely wrong . I absolutely hope it's NOT a regular thing!!!

Thanks for pointing that out, now that I look back, my last post sounds rather stupid!

I meant I hope at least there was some reason for it, like a robbery etc., not just some nut going around picking peope off for no reason.

Someone assocaited with the police told my friend that the worst kind of killer is one who is just doing it for thrills.

I heard about that this morning and it WAS a shock! Things like that just don't happen around here. I hope someone saw something and can help catch the crud who did it.

I saw the police as we drove to Cottonwood this morning. Did not realize that it was because of a homicide.

My guess is road rage. An old couple poking and gawking their way along on 89A made someone mad. Moderator cut: snip

Moderator cut: snip Sounds like a lot more than road rage to me.

It will be interesting to see whether there is any connection between the murders here in Sedona and the fatal shooting of a Maricopa County sheriff's deputy in Anthem on Sunday morning, given that the caliber of the weapon used in both incidents is the same. But with the shooter dead, if it does turn out to be the same person responsible for the Sedona murders, it may never be known why it happened in the first place. Of course, it could just be one of those odd coincidences.
