My daughter and I want to visit Sedona before she leaves for the Philippines. Never been to Sedona. Any information will help. Do we fly into Flagstaff , or Phoenix? Where can we stay that would allow walking in the main part of the arts area and shopping area.? Any help on Spas? We are looking to walking, looking, shopping, massages and such treats. Will be about 5-7 days. IS there a "Downtown" proper? Please give names of areas or streets as we are clueless. I have always wanted to see Sedona and with my daughter leaving the country for who knows how many years, I want to have a great relaxing, easy to do vacation with her. Thank you.

I am going to be lazy here because I have spent so much time and energy doing this over and over. I suggest going to tripadvisor.com and searching the forums for Sedona. There is so much already covered there. You should be able to find things to do, see, and eat in abundance. Enjoy your stay. Sedona is an amazing place.

if coming from out of state, you may want to fly into Phx, rent a car, and drive the 2+ hours to Sedona...flying into Flag involves going to Phx first and changing planes to a smaller regional aircraft....Flag airport to Sedona is about 45 minutes and has some curvy sections if that's a concern....

you may've already found the official C of C site here:

Sedona Arizona Vacation

frankly, 5-7 days is plenty for Sedona unless you really plan to just hang out and take things very slowly on purpose....if you want to walk to things, stay close to "the Y" at the corner of 89 and 179, which would be considered "downtown"....Sedona is very much a tourist town, so you'll find it oriented to visitors with little of a real-town feel....try to plan to drive outside of town to the various hiking trails and scenic overlooks...

Been a long time since I have gone to Sedona but If I recall corectly,a must see location is a park called Red Rock Crossing. Many of the pictures taken there still hang on the walls of my sisters home in Faro, Portugal.

As the other posters have mentioned, there is a ton of information about Sedona available on the internet. Google for "Sedona Spas" and you'll find everything you need about spas. A couple of tips:

"Uptown" is the tourist district and the closest Sedona has to a downtown.

Just south of Uptown is the Y, where the road branches off to West Sedona.

Just south of the Y is Tlaquepaque, a gallery and shopping center that's a must see.

Take a Pink Jeep tour if you want to see off road areas, although I personally prefer hiking to tearing up the terrain. Any hotel desk can give you hiking information, as can the ranger stations. You need a Red Rock Pass to park at trailheads, and they're available both daily or weekly.

There are only 2 major roads in Sedona: Hwys 179 and 89A.

Jerome is worth a visit, as is Montezuma's Castle and perhaps Tuzigoot.

Enjoy!
