Hi,
I am planning a trip from Vancouver BC to Surprize AZ from April 26 - May 4th 2014. There is six of us and we are flying into Phoenix on April 26 at 12:30pm and renting a mini van.
We are then going to drive to either Flagstaff or Sedona or the Grand Canyon for the 26th & 27th. Does anyone have any advice how we should do this. We want to see the red rocks in Sedona. We want to take a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon. I am having difficulty deciding where to stay on the 26th & 27th. On the 28th we are heading back to Surprise for the remainder of the trip.
We have never been to AZ before so any suggestions of things to see are welcome.

:
take the two hour drive to Sedona from Phx and stay overnight there on the 26th, enjoying the area that late afternoon and eve and the next morning....drive up Oak Creek Canyon (89) late morning on the 27th to Flagstaff, get on I-40 west to AZ 64 north to the Grand Canyon (avoids the slow drive thru Flag) and stay there the night of the 27th (about 2.5 hrs Sedona to the canyon)....get there in plenty of time to walk the rim, relax, and enjoy the sunset...if you can get up early (remember - no daylight savings in most of Arizona!!!), enjoy the sunrise, too.....then drive back to Phx via 64, 40, and I-17....plan on lots of driving in that short time frame!!!.....$25 to enter the Grand Canyon....google for helicopter options and yelp for reviews....highly, HIGHLY suggest you get a room inside the Grand Canyon Park near the rim run by the Xanterra concessionaire, instead of in the nearby "town" of Tusayan....
