I tried this last year embarrassed myself heartily. I said we would get 137" of snow in Flagstaff. I am sticking with that for this winter, with the El Nino, and I am going with a 28" dump as well for the largest storm. I am an optimist.

What do you all think we have in store this coming winter?

I'd love to see that much snow...but I don't think it will happen. 95" and biggest dump 14".

Drifts that deep maybe. History shows that about every 10 years or so Flagstaff gets a big storm through there. A good friend and his wife I know spent the first 40 years of their lives living there and just did not like the winds and snow. They now live in the Tucson area.

Last winter was a cake walk, it will be interesting to see what the winter brings!

I like snow, but all things in good measure, as they say...

Wish work didn't drag me back to the Valley! Friends of mine still live in the house in Baderville, hopefully I'll get snowed in a weekend or two up there.

With the summer we've been having in Phoenix, I think we might actually get the El Niño we've been promised this year! (Granted everyone said the same thing last year).

Maybe the snow will be big this year. Arizona Winter Outlook 2015-2016 (Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Sedona) Super El Nino

I think 137" sounds reasonable. Avg annual snowfall in Flagstaff is around 100 inches...so with a decent chance for above average snowfall this year, I think OP's prediction is pretty strong.

LOL - Fiddlehead, I think you should come down the hill and put some money on this in Laughlin. I'll take your bet.

192" ROFLMAO ain't never gonna happen in our lifetime again.

That study says early snows and will dry up by Feb Mar. Last Nino was just getting warmed up by February.

My prediction, maybe a little more than last year, probably not and the biggest storm one foot. El Nino isn't gonna make it past central commiefornia.

Here in Bullhead it is nearly September and we've had ONE thunderstorm in town and it wasn't much.

Global warming is here to stay.

Flagstaff is going to dry up, a big fire is going to come along and burn everything to the ground for 40 miles and the whole region will turn into scrub and grassland. The only building that will survive is the Dreary Inn. Because it's so sad.

On a related topic, I'm going to be working in Flagstaff at Christmas. I will need to drive to St. George, UT. Does Highway 89 usually remain open in winter? Chain requirements common? (I did a little searching, but mainly came up with (past) road closures for reasons other than snow.)

Thanks
