I'll be coming to Flagstaff on an April Wednesday by train. The day I show up, I'll take a shuttle to Sedona and back. The train is scheduled to come in at 5am (will probably be more than an hour late) but the shuttle doesn't leave until 9am. So, are there breakfast joints open and near the Amtrak Station? Also, any suggestions for dinner? I'll be staying near the station and would like pretty budget eats.

The Flagstaff Train Depot is right near Old Town...lots of places not far away to eat, shop. etc.

The train depot is literally right across the street from downtown Flagstaff. To give you some perspective on a map, the train depot is located on the south side of Old Route 66, between Beaver & San Francisco Sts. Downtown begins on the north side of 66, roughly between the same two streets.

For breakfast, there are a couple of choices in the area - mostly coffee shops (Late for the Train, on San Francisco & Aspen) or stop & go (Pay 'n' Take, on Aspen & Leroux) sorts of places. For a sit-down meal, there is a bagel shop just south of the train depot on Beaver (west side), or for something more adventurous, try Macy's - one block south of the train depot, also on Beaver (but on the east side). Macy's would be my overall pick. It is somewhat trendy, a bit overpriced, but the menu is really unique and the food is delicious, and it definitely is a Flagstaff institution.

Also, what hotel are you staying at? That will help in giving some ideas for dinner spots. If it's the Hotel Weatherford, there is a bar & restaurant on the first floor. If it's the Monte Vista or something similar, there are other places to check out.

Is Swadee somewhat new? Where is it located on Aspen? I lived above Maloney's from 2002-4, and periodically get back there to see my in-laws. We'll have to check it out!
