Is there water at Slide Rock year round? Specifically, how about currently? We're over in Prescott for a few days and coming to Sedona for a day. My daughter wants to hike to someplace where she can get in the water. I'm not a hiker and only know of Slide Rock but I'm sure there's other places that might work as well. I'm open to any and all suggestions....

Hike the west fork of oak creek. A little further up the canyon from slide rock. Less crowded, lots of creek crossings, small pools to splash in. Very pretty. There is a fee to park, not much, worth it.

Besides West Fork, I believe there is also swimming at Grasshopper Point, just above Sedona. All these are paid.

Oak Creek runs all year. There are probably websites somewhere that will give you current waterflow conditions.

The Call O The Canyon hike (West Fork Oak Creek) is an excellent hike. Like Curly said, plenty of spots to take a dip in the creek and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The first couple miles of the hike are a bit crowded with people, but after you hit the 2.5-3 mile mark, the crowds drop off, and the trails are noticeably less populated.

Slide Rock was sooo much cooler before everybody found out about it . . . . . of course it used to get pretty crowded even in the 60's.
