I just got a job at Eglin AFB. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom apartment or condo for rent. If anyone knows of good apartments around there please let me know.

When we moved down here, we rented a condo in a scruffy but safe enough part of Okaloosa Island north of Santa Rosa Blvd. Great if you want to walk to the beach, but hurricanes are more of a concern when you're on a barrier island. The apartment complexes in Destin tend to be newer and nicer than what you get in Ft. Walton Beach proper. However, your summer evening commute will be a bit on the long side if you get caught up in the tourist traffic.
Not a whole lot of apartment complexes in Niceville, which is also generally a bit better than FWB and a better commute situation than coming from Destin. But you do get some rental condos. Here are a couple in a nice golf course development:

I'd also look for listings in The Oaks and Florida Club condo complexes in Niceville.
