Where is the best county/city/area to live in florida if you are looking for a combination of low violent crime rates and employment opportunities? Both of these thngs seem to be big problems in this state and I was wondering where I could live in an area where I'm free to walk or drive to wherever I want in the surrounding area with little chance of having problems.

Any kind that can get you by not too badly. I will also live in any kind of place as long as there isn't crime so wherever the cheapest areas without crime are that you can think of let me know.

Cedar Key doesn't have any jobs. FLA17 was right in asking, "Do such places exist?" - if there are jobs in this economy, its VERY crowded, but we all know, there aren't really any jobs around right now unless you're a doctor or a nurse. They can find work about anywhere.

I am going to convince my son (if & when I have one) to kick a football or play golf. Both of those jobs pay well, and should be good for 10+ years. At that point they will have enough money to pursue other things.

When I looked at this thread title the first thing that came to my mind was Disney.

You can work as a maintenance worker and live in the top of Cinderellas castle..
