This is the same poll as before, but based on the replies to the previous poll, I should have been clearer that they would be separate sub-forums, not one huge sub-forum.

I guess I have the lone vote for "none of the above" so far, but I simply think that Florida is not like other states. It makes sense to have a New Orleans forum for Louisiani, or a Boston form for Massachusetts, because that's what people think -- either Boston or the rest of the state, for example.

But, in Florida, people are just looking for somewhere to start. Think about how many threads ask for "where should I go", "where's the best place", "where's the best small town", "where is it safest", "where are there no hurricanes", etc. Most of the messages are NOT about the big cities.

And then, Florida has so many big cities. If we had sub forums for all the places you are asking about, think about how much harder it would be to get information about all of Florida -- people would have to visit, and ask questions, on every sub-forum in order to find what they want.

I can't see any reason to create sub-forums.

Why not use a sub-forum similar to tripadvisors where the user can choose between the sub-forums or to view all the Florida threads?

I disagree. Miami is a unique city, fast becoming the capital of Latin America. A Miami forum would get a significant number of posts.

I like the idea of having sub-forums to make things a little easier to navigate to about different cities and places.

Default How the State has been ruined forum.

Since every other thread is about who's leaving, why I can't sell my home, high taxes, traffic nightmares, failed schools, english disappearing, I vote for How the State has been ruined forum.

I agree with OldTimer. I'm looking for information on Fort Myers/Tampa/ Melbourne/ Orlando/Gainesville, etc and I don't want have to jump from forum to forum.

Another close vote, but there won't be any sub-forums for now. However, if the traffic increases substantially (the number of posts per day has doubled in the last two months), we'll likely have no choice but to create these sub-forums in order to make the forum manageable for less frequent users.

Consider other ways to sub divide the forums. Perhaps something for people looking to move to Florida and something for folks who are looking to sell or move within Florida. Maybe divide it into "residents" and "wannabes". I also still like a division such as "urban" and "rural", or maybe "city", "town" and "country". Florida is simply too diverse, and there are too many areas outside the major cities, to divide it by the major cities. If you read the messages, very few people have interest in the large cities.

There already are sub-forums. All you have to do is use the "SEARCH" button.
