Hey guys and gals. I have a job opportunity in either Tampa(St.Petersburg) or Delrey beach. I need help deciding on where to live. I live in Arlington Va which is very close to D.C., I do like the metropolitan feel of Arlington because it is part city and part suburban. I am 35 years old. I enjoy the beach but I also want the downtown look and buzz that I am used to. I will be making over 250k a yr, so I want somewhere I will be able to enjoy my time off. I like high end shopping area's,beaches, restaurants, and nice coffee shops. I will working in either St.Petersburg or Delrey beach and I am not afraid of commuting a half hour or so to get to work. I like highend high rise condo's for the time being, because its only me and my girlfriend right now. I am used to a hiper crowd, lounges and nice restaurants. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

If you get the job in Delray West Palm Beach sounds like a good fit for you. Lots of nice highend buildings, nice restaurants, etc Only 20 minutes or so to Delray.

if you like arlington, west palm area would be a better fit for you. st. pete is more of a laid back beach town with some high-end dining and shopping near the pier but nothing like arlington.

<-- just moved from alexandria and worked in arlington.

I think you'd like Ft. Lauderdale more than West Palm Beach if you are after the big city vibe. Check out Boca Raton as well, lots of high end stuff there.

West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale will be best fits. I moved down to the Orlando area a year ago from metro DC, and the party/bar scene down here is much different. South Florida would offer the closest thing to Arlington, but it still won't be the same high end lounge scene that DC does well.

Downtown St. Pete is up and coming but you sound like more of South FL guy. With that income you can have a blast in SFL. Ft. Laudy and South Beach are right down I95 for some the best nightlife in the world.
