I used to hike and go "Mountain" biking. Those 2 things you cannot really do down here either, unless you count a causeway bridge as a mountain. Yes there is hiking here in FL, flat land hiking, my version of hiking is climbing this...

Mount Greylock in Adams, MA.

OR

Sugarloaf Mountain, Sunderland, MA.

I guess the way to go is to snow bird it -- we plan to spend winter and spring in FL and summer and fall in NH. You can have the snow. I won't miss it. Ever. 30 years is enough.

I love San Antonio.

Just not the crime rate. I do not want to live in a place where I cannot open my garage door and walk away for 5 minutes without having something stolen.

Where would you suggest raising children?

Not gonna lie. I'm utterly surprised. I always thought Florida had the highest. Thank you for that interesting and revealing tidbit. Now I can use that against those damn Californians.

Wow. No need to get defensive. Florida happens to be MY home as well and I have never ever forgot it. I just know that as a person that has lived abroad in various states and even another country, Florida isn't all that. I believe that the cons outweigh the pros for me. Maybe someday things will change for the better. I don't know. I will always love Florida but I wouldn't raise children there at all.

These threads just show how many people want to make a change these days. That includes people wanting out of Florida and others desiring to come here for good... Nothing wrong with either. I can't understand why so many get uptight with the so called 'bashers' as this should be a learning experience for all.. Notice many of those who want out have lived here a long time too just want a change from many of the things others think make it so special in Florida and seek many of the same things unavailable down here that those who want to move here are trying to get away from

I was trying to remember the name of this company. It was driving me crazy! A neighbor in Bonita Springs worked there part-time. He gave me some juice to try. I thought it was the greatest tasting, freshest juice I ever drank. Unfortunately, orange and grapefruit juice puts a hole in my stomach (or at least it feels that way!)
