However, it also drove up real estate prices and pissed people off in that regard as well..

The economy... I'm sorry but I just don't see how Florida can be a state with the population that it has and have as little industry and business as it has. I mean honestly, You can't build a healthy economy when you base your livelihood on one thing TOURISM. I mean yeah, You have Orange Juice and Disney but honestly, You can't build a healthy state when it comes to the economy when a majority of your residents works in service jobs like Burger King and Walmart.

I'm not saying I'm a proponent of "Drill Baby Drill" but at some point in time you're going to have to sacrifice the environment a little for progress I mean honestly, People didn't stop the idiots from building millions of houses, condos, and timeshares did they ? So why care if there is more manufacturing and factories ? Not only put people to work but actually give them decent jobs !
Haha that sounds the same as a person from California when you refer to that Florida arrogance.I do know that a large portion of the wild partiers in the rest of the nation seek to run away or take a road trip to Florida to party. Why? I suppose it is easier to access alcohol and drugs in Florida huh? Sometimes they reminds me of Axl Rose in that video heads to Cali and starts looking up in awe at the tall buildings ,lol.

It is so funny and troubling how people will flock to a negative thread headline more than a positive one though.

The topic wasnt meant to rile any ones feathers but just to be an alternative to the other thread going about about how everything is perfect in Florida
//www.city-data.com/forum/flori...e-florida.html,well for some of us we just dont share the enthusiasm. For me Florida is a great place for a several week vacation every year but i just cant handle the place for more than that.

Florida is far from perfect...We love living here and wouldnt move anywhere else, However Its not for everyone and we all dont like the same things...Although anywhere one lives there are typically the same type of Issues...We have lived in 6 states and every single one of them had problems and issues, its just a matter of not going into thinking anywhere is Utopia...We know florida's problems and we knew them before we moved here and went into our relo with our eyes open...

Thats one of the reasons i created this topic so that we can give those that are moving to Florida a heads up on some of Floridas short comings when they come looking for the perfect place thats safe, has many jobs and good schools and close to the beach.
As another example have those that dream of living near the water checked out the price of homeowners insurance if they live too close to the water? its high enough to be a deal breaker for some..

My ex boss and his wife sold their house and went to Lak Ozark MO. Thier homeowners insurance was $7800 a year in Cape Coral with gulf access. Up on the lake, $1100.... And they are 30 feet from water.

I've been a member of the forum for a few years now and familiar with a few from here so my question is for some of you that moved from here only to move back for various reasons or once the leaves fell up north and you became too cold, why did you move back to Florida only to bash and hate it so much? You knew what it's like to live down here in the first place so why keep coming back only to bich and bash.

Exactly...my point was that those who "bash" florida or anywhere else for that matter because lets face it not everyone feels the same way and people should respect those who do like it here and are happy and those that dont, but my biggest issue that I have is people telling people "not to move here" the bottom line is people run away to inexpensive places to live to just find out that wow Its Not Perfect nor is going to stay inexpensive....So again No where is perfect.....

Happy 4th of July
