Really? Would you mind sharing at least ten of the city/county bus agencies there (not including the Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee, Jacksonville transit systems)?

So since we don't have rail, we aren't a true system?

Earning a living will be tough anywhere in FL right now with the possible exception in the health care field. Venice/Sarasota area if you priority list is true or Gainesville if nightlife is more important than you are letting on. Suggest a short term rental unless you have a secure income already. You will be competing with a million unemployed people in FL that are already here looking for low paying jobs. GREAT NEWS THOUGH, Florida just raised the minimum wage to $7.67 an hour, ca-ching!

Cool, I'll keep the Venice/Sarasota area in mind. If Gainesville's nightlife sticks out than the other factors, then what is it at the expense of? In other words, if their nightlife is more popular, does another factor suffer like safety, jobs, cheap places to rent, public transit, etc?

Bear in mind that Sarasota/Venice has the highest average age in the state.

Sounds like you need to take a tour of Florida.

It does, especially Venice. The saying is that Sarasota is where people go to retire, and Venice is where their parents go - lol! Sarasota does have several colleges so young people are here, depending where you go you can see either ALL older folks, or a mix. It's a great area to live, though, depending on what you are looking for. We are very happy here, but then we do live on the upper end, actually in Manatee County - for us a very good quality of life here.

So, Sarasota is a college town mixed with retirees. Sounds like Venice is a town full of old people. Nothing against old people but I can see myself getting tired of that quickly. I'll put Sarasota on my list of cities to consider.
