Wow Im black (for lack of a better word ) and American and have never seen this flag, the one with Africa in it . Im just thinking that as a patriot, a person who loves their country (I'm talking about myself) I wouldnt want to fly the flag of the side that wanted to secede. Unless of course we are still pissed that slavery ended. We have amicable relations with the folks from the places you mentioned (even cuba where we have a prob with the govt not the people ) so their flag is ok as long as ours flies highest.

If they're so proud of their home countries, they why did they leave in the first place? I don't understand some of these immigrants, especially the illegals. They come here and try to turn our country into theirs and expect us to change everything for them.

When we try to do something about it, they get all offended and make up some sob stories about how difficult life is for them. Well, we the taxpayers are the ones paying for them to cover their butts. Before they demand we respect them, why don't they try to respect us and our country first?
Just curious but do you suppose this was such an issue with the Italians, Poles, Germans, Chinese, Persians and others when they moved to this country? And if it was, doesn't it appear that most if not all have assimilated into our culture but still retain a visible pride of their home culture and carrying on where possible some of the old traditions? This is a country of immigrants (legal and illegal) and many have conveniently forgotten that. Perhaps the flag-waving neo-conservatives on FoxNews have managed to brainwash much of the masses, but history doesn't lie.

What Jacksonville and Tampa are doing right is diversifying their economy, end of story. Orlando needs to follow suit or remain a low-wage service economy, which will probably be the case as the demographic in Orlando isn't capable of attracting high-tech/skilled employers to the area. In terms of Miami, it's recovery will happen and look to see Miami/ Ft Lauderdale/West Palm Beach pass other cities in the state over the next year in terms of lower unemployment rates as South Florida is the biggest economic engine in the state.

Let me help educate you TXRyan on Black Americans really quickly. Black Americans dont have a dag on thing to do with the flag you posted. That is a Jamaican flag. If you're caucasian should you be sterotyped as maybe a European or Greek person? Umm, no, therfore please dont generalize African AMERICAN blacks in this country who have no connection to Africa other than it being where our ancestors came from. Thanks.

Accordingly, most companies, from banks, to insurance to retail, set up their regional headquarters in Tampa and have remained there. Orlando to it's credit does a good job of luring new industry. The best examples being the simulation technology and bio med research industry. Years ago CFL was dealt what was believed to be a fatal blow when Scripps Ranch opted to relocate to SFL instead. But the local govt was not discouraged and pursued the Burnham Research Institute. Today Burnham shares a medical city with UCF Med School, VA Hospital, Nemours Children Hospital, UF research facility and a planned cancer center. Hopefully they can simulate the same type of success with the Creative Village planned for downtown.
I don't trust this creative village.

Demographic not being capable? Exactly which demographic are you referring too? How can you generalize demographic, but used it in terms of being specific by stating "the" before the word?

At any rate. I think ANY demographic whether it is the unskilled, minority, upper class, middle class, lower class is capable if opportunity presents itself.
I do however see the potential in Orlando demographics aside.

The demographic I'm referring to is the 25-40 age group primarily which is the bellweather of a city's working-age population. Orlando's is largely unskilled and lacking in education (college degrees). It's well-documented that the city has one of the least educated populations in the country, as a result high-tech/corporate employers haven't exactly been tripping over themselves to open facilities in a city where hiring is going to be a challenge. Of course most anyone is capable but how many high-tech companies do you know of that offer on-the-job-training programs? What's the incentive when they can choose one of umpteen other low cost/low tax cities that offer relocation incentives AND an educated/trained workforce?

Thats not hard to figure out living here but honestly, how often riding around Central Florida in General can you tell if a person has a degree or not? Based on assumption? A Job means nothing to a person's character. It's basically calling everyone 25-40 in Orlando or where ever they live and commute from , Stupid.
