So, lets look at the local news down here in South FL versus the local news in Charlotte.

So, we had this weak as main stories in the BC (can I coin that?)...Burger King robbery in Pembroke Pines, man stabbed to death in Fort Lauderdale, mall robbery at Sawgrass Mills, and robber in "Scream" mask robbing Tamarac convenience store. All a big deal, but what do you think you all are escaping from by moving to North Carolina?
News Headlines - nbc6.net

In Charlotte...

Gunmen Fire Shots During North Charlotte Convenience Store Robberies - Charlotte News Story - WSOC Charlotte
Looky; the robbers actually shoot up there!

Suspect In Iredell County Slaying Arrested After Search Through Woods - Charlotte News Story - WSOC Charlotte
Looky;homicide happens there too!

Heres the rest. Looks worse than ours! Charlotte News, News Video, Carolinas News, Eyewitness News, Channel 9 (http://www.wsoctv.com/news/index.html - broken link)
Look, even shots fired at officer in Charlotte!!!!!

Chester County Drawing Attention To Gang Problem - Charlotte News Story - WSOC Charlotte

I mean come on guys, look, even in rural Chester County, SC (33,228)outside of Charlotte had 23 gangs. To compare a large Florida county, Broward County, amongst it's its 1.8 million people had 28!!!!!! It's getting expensive here, but otherwise, what do some of you folks think you are escaping from?

Well, in the meanwhile, I won't be back for a while, but see you all soon!

Crime is everywhere, but it is not nearly as bad as Florida and Charlotte everywhere.

Charlotte isn't bad at all, especially compared to most of Florida. Trust me. I live here.
Out of those storys I think only 1 was even IN Charlotte city proper.

Charlottes Crime is a gift an curse.
There is murders in upper class neighborhoods, Armed Robberies too.
Shoot. I live in the suburbs and there was a drive-by last year a few streets down from where I live.

However on the flip side of the coin crime here really isn't that bad. Sure we rack up like 80 murders a year but they are spread out everywhere. Crime in this city is not stuck in one area. It is very spread out. People get killed in South, North, West, an East Charlotte. Sure some places are worse than others, but at least there is no places where you seriously have to fear for your life after dark.
The worst neighborhoods in Charlotte are very very nice compared to the worst neighborhoods in I can safely say EVERY Florida city with 250K plus people.

I grew up in St. Petersburg in one of the cities few extremely undesirable areas. The violence was absolutely insane. Probably 60% of the cities shootings an murders were within 10 blocks of my house. Sometimes I would sleep on the ground because the shooting would scare me and I didn't wanna get shot thru the window in my sleep.

The "gangs" in Charlotte are all pretty much wussies. Every now an than some North Meck KingZ an a few Bloods will shoot at each other but theres never any real serious issues.
At my High School in Charlotte hundreds of kids claimed Bloods or Crips and none of them were real. I actually got in a fight with a Crip an beat the tar out of his while his "set" just watched.
Gangs here are for bored losers.

Gangs in Florida are serious buisiness and they kill and steal for real. The number is not an issue.
The Gangster Disciples, MS-13, etc in the Sunshine State unlike the ones in Charlotte are real, initiated, and usually grown Men and they are completely serious about the Thug Life. Not rebellious Teenagers who want to be cool (IE most Charlotte Gangstas)

I'm speaking all from living in both places. I was raised in FL and now live in Charlotte. Charlotte is soft compared to Florida. Stick some of these wannabe thugs from East Charlotte into Childs Park an they will **** themselves.

stpete2charlotte, i dont know much about charlotte crime, but one thing you pointed out is actually, well, more of a negative i think.

i live in orlando, and i would say, per capita, orlando is worse than charlotte. charlotte has far more murders, but also far more ppl. you said that charlotte crime is spread out everywhere, north, south, east and west. well here in orlando, there are a few bad parts for sure, but we can aviod most of that mess by simply not going into parramore and pine hills, obt areas and by the citrus bowl. so, it is easier (by what you have stated about charlotte) to stay away from the crime in orlando than in charlotte. i havent heard of any drive-bys in avalon park or lake nona, or baldwin park, or any of the nicer areas. and believe me, if i did, i would reacess the sitaution and look to move to a place like northern fla, vero bch, or possibly greenville sc or the outskirts of charlotte

I mean stuff happens everywhere.
Charlotte just happens to have it more evenly spread. There is bad neighborhoods here but they really are not that bad.
