If you have kids in FL you know that if you in 2 miles of the school no bus. I live 1.9 miles from my 1st and 3rd graders school. We live off a busy rd (40mph speed limit) no sidewalks, no crossing guards, the grass is flooded and mud, its awful! But thats not the worst part a few weeks ago there was an attempted abduction within the area they have to walk. I have no car so I can't pick them up. I've called the board they said sorry your 100 ft shy of the line. Has anyone fought this and won? Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I think that the lack of safe walking area is reason enough that they should get busing. But the little girl that about got abducted is the last straw. We are in Brevard Co by the way. Any insight will be appreciated.

What have you been doing? Can they go with a neighbor? Did you just move there?

I have a neighbor that drives them sometimes. We are in south Palm Bay where there is not much of anything. We've been here a year and I've fought with the school board that long. We are so close that I think they should consider allowing them service. I can pay for it, which i would do, BUT they won't create a stop they go to the next closest, 2 miles the other way! I have a 3 year old and 1 year old so walking them is hard. My husband drops them off in the morning its getting them home thats the issue.

I know how you feel. When my older kids were in elementary school in Texas we lived about three blocks from their school. Then the boundaries were changed for a new school that was built that was 1.9 miles away and we fought to get bus service and lost. I liked the new school, but getting them there was a problem since my youngest was in a special ed preschool program at ANOTHER school that I had to pass right by just to get to the school the other kids went to.
