Hello: We are moving to south Florida and looking over our options as to where.

Here are the requirements:
1. In an area with excellent gh schools. 2. Within 45 minutes of FIU Law in Miami or Nova Law in Ft. Lauderdale.
3. Low crime rate- we found beautiful homes in some areas but the crime rate is kind of high (is it that bad comming from Bogota?)!
4. 450-550K for a new or 3-5 year old home in community.
5. Area with things to do & not filled with retirement communities!

If you can recommend town and even development/subdivision it would be much appreciated! Parkland, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Weston, Davie, Boynton Beach...there are so many + and - to these places...whats the opinions of anyone who lives down there?

This is what has been recommended to us most:
Aventura
Palmetto[/Pinecrest
Coral Gables
Miami Shores
Miramar
Miami Lakes
Kendall
Weston

THANKS GUYS!!!!

"450-550K for a new or 3-5 year old home in community" I just want to get the job you will have here to afford that price! You do realize that will cost you 10,000.00-11,000 a year in property taxes alone!!

I know plenty of Colombians, none of which tell me jobs pay that great there reason they immigrated here lol.

The average wage in Colombia is about $325.00 a month.

Many have said if they won the lotto they would go back in a heartbeat, even what they make here at the average is like a kings salary back in Colombia.

The poster writes very good English too, none of my Colombian friends can even write that good and some have lived here for 10 years+ lol.

Aventura, Pinecrest, parts of Miami Shores, Miami Lakes- some.
Not Kendall, not Miramar.

It will be difficult to get into the nicer parts of Coral Gables for that amount, much less new or less than 5 yr. old property, even Pinecrest will be difficult.

Are you interested in condos or only single family homes? I think you might find bigger/newer/better areas outside of the greater Miami area.

I second Weston. If it matters this city has the heaviest Colombian population in Broward and also offers the lowest crime rate and best public schools out of the mentioned communities. It is nicknamed "Little Bogota" by some and attracts a sophisticated and educated Colombian. This is about 10 minutes from Nova Law.

I heard only a part West (or was it East?) Kendall has a large Colombian population... I don't think the entire area has a large Colombian population...
