I like that you can watch the sunrise and sunset over the ocean(gulf) in the same state on the same day. I did that once in Cocoa Beach and Clearwater.

In the keys you could walk across the island.

Warm all the time - beautiful sunsets - flowers and plants that never die - trees that never go bare - beautiful beaches with blue green gulf water - exotic huge birds - like sandhill cranes - sunny most of the time - no dull, grey depressing winters - spectacular thunderstorms that last about a 1/2 hour and give way to sunshine again.

That's another thing I forgot - the birds! I love that I spot sand hill cranes while driving around town & we also have a family of them that frequent my parents river cottage.

Low latitude lifestyle, warm ocean for water sports(i.c. fishing, scuba, snorkeling, shelling, kayaking), green and lush environment with the highest combined (marine/terrestrial) biodiversity in the lower 48. Some great history for American standards (St Augustine oldest continuously occupied settlement/town, 1st expedition to the new world landed in FL(Pinellas cty). KSC's historical uniqueness in the world. Theme parks galore in Orlando(best for families), still some quaint little towns, endless shopping options, better quality roads than up North, white clouds/blue skies very often(some amazing formations in the summer), seafood(grouper.. my favorite), close proximity to the Bahamas/Caribbean for cruises, the FL Keys etc..etc.

Default Sometimes we forget how..

beautiful our state is and just bash out the negatives ! Remember we share our home with Millions of tourists too everyday and they seem to appreciate it more than we do.
How many states can say that ?

Even though we have 20 plus million residents we live in very compact Urban areas leaving a lot of room for nature :

As a Floridian you can live in the middle of nowhere or you can live in my chaotic mess called Miami and be on the beach in a matter of minutes from the big city :

We as Floridians should take time out everyday before sunset with a drink of your choice to enjoy this and put your worries away for at least an hour :

When I DID live there...

Publix, its great quality of produce, bakery, customer service and fried chicken.

Looking for seashells at the beach.

Swimming at the pool when a sudden thunderstorm shows up during summer. Swimming in the water as the rain warms it up, before the lightning starts.

Drives on the Tamiami trail and spotting alligators in the sawgrass.

A diversity of marine life, sharks, manatees, dolphins, sea turtles...

Great fishing and sailing.

I got a lot of things I dislike about Florida, and I'm glad I moved out, but there's still lots I can appreciate when I visit home that you can't really do outside of Florida. I'm glad most of its beaches are still really clean and the Everglades are as intact as they are. May God protect her natural beauty.

I might get bitten a couple of times a year because I take sensible precautions.
Seems a small price to pay for living in what I consider to be paradise.

We're not residents yet, but we are frequent visitors, what we appreciate most is the year round outdoor lifestyle. Even in the heat of summer, you can still take a walk, run, swim, bike, go to outdoor restaurants, ball games, beaches, nature watch, tiki bars, concerts. Just like any place you live, Florida has it's pluses and minuses, but I'll take 3 months of H&H over gray, cold, and ice&snow. About another year or two until we move down.
